Match Preview – AFC Liverpool (H)
Following our disappointing 3-0 defeat at Brocton last weekend, we look ahead to our upcoming FA Vase 4th Round clash at home to AFC Liverpool.
We welcome the North West Counties Premier Division side to the Abbey Stadium, where both sides will look to get one over each other by securing their place in the 5th Round of the competition.
Abbey’s impressive run in the Vase hasn’t gone unnoticed, as wins over Ashton Athletic, Hall Road Rangers, Parkgate, Carlisle City and AFC Bury have put Terry Hincks’ side in a good position going into this game.
The home side currently have only won one game since the triumph over Bury, with that win coming at home to Cammell Laird in the North West Counties First Division South.
The Opposition
AFC Liverpool are back in the 9th tier after securing promotion last season on PPG. So far this season they find themselves lying mid-table in the league standings, currently 13th.
They are currently in a good run of form, which has seen them go unbeaten in their previous five games. Most recently, they secured a 5-0 win over Litherland REYMCA on January 5th.
This season’s FA Vase run has seen them record wins over Charnock Richard (5-3), New Mills (5-2), Newton Aycliffe (2-1), Redcar Town (2-0) and Pilkington (1-0). They will be confident heading into this game and they will be hopeful they can use a higher league status to their advantage.
